Hello, and welcome to ‘Home and Away,’ a series of features where I present to you a new experience of football. I am Ryan a student at Carre’s Grammar School in Sleaford – as well as a life-long Lincoln City fan.
Today’s feature will be a lot shorter because I did not actually go to the game in person, and I can only really comment on the game itself (which I did watch on iFollow). But after some of my lovely observations, we will discuss the match.
What a run of performances we have had, taking points from Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle who have dominated the league and share the automatic promotion spots at the top of the table. There has been so much improvement within the team and how cohesive the football is really does surprise me.
In terms of the game today, the performance was impressive. The imps hit the back of the net 4 times (however only 2 were legitimate and actually counted) and kept a clean sheet against a top team. Mide Shodipo hit the back of the net just before the half hour mark after a sublime ball across from Lasse Sørensen reached Danny Mândroiu who was able to cross the ball to Mide. The QPR Loanee got to the ball before anyone in green and was able to put the ball past the Argyle keeper. The Imps were not going to sit on this lead and after a disallowed goal they were finally able to double the lead just 2 minutes after half time. Ben House picked up the ball just inside the box and he was able to twist and turn and finally get the shot away, coolly slotting the ball into the bottom corner. The imps held onto the lead and looked more attacking than the team that actually needed to attack. The attendance for today’s game was 16,298 however I can guarantee that quite a few had left before the full-time whistle.
The Imps next play on Saturday at home against Port Vale so make sure you are ready for another article.
